Artist in residency – Everyday movement and gestures in Korea

Since 2014 I have been a recurrent visitor in Korea both to work , teach and share my artistic practice. This project initiated by Victoria Hauke and hosted by Seoul Dance center in Korea will strengthened my international network as a choreographer / dance artist as well as create new opportunities creating artistic collaboration between Korea and Germany.

Choreographers Kay Patru (FR), Jihae Ko (Kor) and Victoria Hauke (Ger) are invited to Seoul Dance Center to collaborate for an artistic residency around the theme of everyday movement and gestures in Korea. This movement research will consist in interviewing local workers and communities on their manual labor skills as well as collecting and recording manual movement derived from labor in markets, workshops and small ateliers. The aim of this project is to reconsider the value of everyday movement in labor which has its own unique quality and esthetic beauty as well as bringing to light the phenomenon of manual labor as a Korean cultural heritage.
